"blue lives don't matter." - Jason Todd That was seriously WTF moment. Out of nowhere. Shock is a mild word for the state I was in. This Dick's theme 'I have to do this alone' may be coming to a close soon, I reckon. Kory was beautiful. The light of this show. I want writers to deal with her shit a little. Space taning chamber wasn't closely enough.

Between that and Andy blowing up cop cars in the Gifted, Im finally getting the representation I deserve. I'm assuming Kory will be central in S2. For now Im fine with her stealing the spotlight in every scene she's in.

I'm not fine. I. WANT. IT. NOW. Gar got his episode. Dicky boy got his. Raven got hers. Kory needs it.
Or if she doesn't get it, like deal with her amnesia. Let flashbacks from her true self start creeping in.
I confess that you're 100 percent correct that she's better in small doses. BUT I'm an addict.
Now I think I like Jason Todd more than Dick. Dick is boring.

I'm finally catching up with this and I love it so far! I mean, I still don't know where it's going (and neither do any of the characters), but I'm enjoying the ride. Thoughts as I went along: Ep 1: Dick is very angry and too big to be running around in that Robin suit maiming people. I think it's nice that his co-workers know him as, 'guy who is good with kids' considering he spends all his free time doing violence to people. I'm glad he helped Raven. Odd though that I ever had a moment's doubt that he would (such an angry boy!). Loved everything about Starfire's introduction, except the fact that I had no idea what was going on. I guess her not knowing helped? She was way less confused than I would have been if I had amnesia. Tiger CGI looked good here, and also enjoyed Gar's intro! Using your powers to steal video games, what a hoot! Ep 2: I lol'd when Dick was all, "You don't know what I've become" and Dove was like, "ok whatever drama queen" but then he turned that warehouse into a massacre, and they were both like, "oh shit". Homeboy had blood all over his face like this was the walking dead. I liked that they had such a markedly shocked and disgusted reaction to him being so violent. It was affirming to see external acknowledgment of the fact that Dick Is Not Himself. But I see notes of the sweet Dickie boy I know and love in his interactions with Raven. "I'm sure they have marshmallows..." so cute! I'm not even mad about Hank being a jerk, because tbh if Dick showed up to steal my girl I'd feel some type of way too. I don't think I've ever heard a version of Kids in America I don't like? RIP Amy. Ep3: Starfire continues to have A++++ music. The only nuns that can be trusted are singing ones. Ep4: Ok, so the CGI whenever Raven or Starfire use their powers is good. And the CGI for the rest of the Doom Patrol is good. But for some reason, the CGI every time Beastfield has transformed since episode 1 has been janky? Am I the only one who's noticed that? Or am I just spoiled from live action jungle book, and that handful of walking dead episodes with Shiva in them before they tragically killed her/I quit watching? I understand they may not have the same budget, but it's weird that the CGI for everything else is fine, but not the green tiger? I'm glad Gar tried to defend Raven before he got tranq'd. I like this iteration of the character. He's a sweet boy. Dick continues to be crazy as hell. I'm a little turned on by it? Also, love that he continues to fearlessly charge in whenever Raven loses control of her powers to cure her with the power of hugs. I'm not being sarcastic, I really do love that twice now he's stopped her episodes by ignoring her warnings to get back and hugging her. It's on some carebear shit and I love it. Ep5: Omg! Dick's Robin? No way! Love that he successfully sidestepped not having any powers by being Incredibly Famous and also Good At Martial Arts. Also love that this episode concoted a scenario where he saved several people with super powers because he's just that good. Also love that after all that, he was about to get his ass beat when he was saved by Jason. Also, also, when he threatened to put that old man's face in that hot pan? Dick you slay me! You need a therapist my dude! Ep6: Wow. Just everything. Wow. Great episode all around, even if the other Titans were sadly absent for most of it. Jason Todd was interesting. Favorite moments were him hitting on a grown woman before picking a fight with the guy she was with, and at the end when he said "light's out bitch!" before definitely 100% paralyzing an innocent (?) cop for life. What an irascible little scamp! I love him! I hope this show goes on long enough that we get to see him on the other side of the lazarus pit. so, Dick is almost 30? I dont like it. I'm almost 30. I've headcanoned Dick as my age, so I love it. This version can't be more than a couple years older than me. That's plenty young enough to be flipping around and taking out your anger issues on people's faces.

I saw the asylum episode. Am I caught up now?
Didn't like seeing the gang get tortured. Pretty unfortunate :/ I assume Dick watching his old robin costume burn is supposed to symbolize him letting go of that persona and his anger, and the beginning of becoming as a chill, fun nightwing? I hope so. This episode made me realize at this point Rachel and Kory have both killed multiple people, and Gar just mauled someone to death with his actual mouth. Kinda odd that Dick gets to be the angry one brooding about his violent tendencies. I mean, that sound effect when he threw the thingy in that one goon's eye during the hawk and dove episode wasn't great, but beating someone unconscious with a pipe objectively isn't as bad as incinerating them or whatever the hell it was raven did to that one guy.
Btw, love how everyone else is super upset after they hurt someone with their powers, but Kory--who doesn't even remember who she is--has been 100% unfazed by killing people. She snapped that dude's neck after he was already subdued hours after waking up not knowing where she was. Then kept it pushing. Wild.
In my recap of episodes I forgot one of my favorite bits! When Dick and Rachel were in that motel, and she was ignoring him, until she said, "no pineapples on the pizza" and he said "obviously" and that made me smile because I'm glad our heroes have correct pizza topping opinions.
On the subject of resenting Dick, I haven't been too bothered by emo/edgy Dick, because even though he's a little broody, it's still obvious how much he cares about people. And it's not like some secret soft side you have to sniff out because he's super guarded. The character is pretty open about how much he cares about his friends, and is always asking if they're ok and trying to help everyone. He still feels very Dick to me.

new episode came out... yesterday? Or maybe today idk anyway.
I love Donna? With all my heart. And I cant wait for her and Kory to interract even tho Im assume theyll have a big fight first since Donna might be the only one who can stop Kory. I think the Dick not being comics Dick thing is intentional now and we'll see him grow more comfortable into his own skin when he makes the change to Nightwing. The small talk thing stuck with me since Dick is notorious for being so charming usually. I wonder how they'll make it work but I think/hope thats what they're going for.
I don't trust Rachels mom. Theres nothing particularly sus abt her just that plot has been done to death and its always a trap.
Hawk and Dove comeback next week except it seems to be a whole flashback episode? With black guy dying? *groans* Well this show couldnt be perfect altho it really tried until now.

Pineapple and salmon pizza is the best pizza. I never thought I'd be pineapple pizza activist, but life's weird, u guyz.
Raven taking back her healing was standalone the creepiest scene so far.

Kory setting a bunch of cops on fire was this episode highlight. These superheroes show writers have really nailed the best way to hold my interest.

Donna is my new favourite. Emotionally intelligent, brilliant strategist, friend, ass kicker, survivor, polyglot, animal lover, photographer, awesome sense of humor, pretty... she's all that. I hope she becomes regular.
Dick is the worst. He ruins everything. Because Bruce didn't give him coping mechanism at all.
Yay for Kory's mission statement. It's all grim and brooding, but I welcome it. Explains her being trigger happy to human meat bags a lot.
