This show was good in season 1 but it's turned into such a lame mess. Hardly anything gets accomplished and the back and forth between worlds is sloppily done anymore. Also fuck the Fairy forever. So obnoxious. Quentin can seriously fuck off too. All I want is Hot Mike to come back from Season1 but he blew up

I have never felt so betrayed in my life. By me? If so, I’m sorry. I can’t stand people who are just rude for the sake of being rude. I hate the fake tough guy routine. There’s nothing new or original about that kind of character. And the idea that he’s supposed to be cool is problematic. There’s nothing cool about being a bully. There’s nothing cool about being an asshole. I tend to hate bully characters, too, but I don't really see Penny as a bully. It's been a while since I've watched S1, but from what I remember he's only really been hostile to Quentin and that seemed justified given how much of a wank Quentin can be. I mean there was his Julia dislike, but that was understandable and he wasn't any more of an ass about that than the rest of them have been. In fact, I'd say he was far less of an ass about it than Alice, Kady and Quentin have been at different points. This is as bad as when Teddy revealed she hates Julia Yeah, actually, that was the bigger betrayal to me, now that I think of it, because Teddy and I are usually chandler.gif about stuff. Back to the topic of Quentin being a wank, it's weird because I like him anyway? Well, I don't know if "like" is the right word, but I care about the jackass. Maybe because Jason Ralph's performance reminds me of, like, if Jason Behr had a son, but that son was taken over by the spirit of a dog with behavioral problems. I want him to get his shit together. I am Alice, not wanting him to get hurt but also wanting to tell him to go fuck himself pretty much every episode. Apparently book!Quentin is way worse? I shudder to think. And it isn't just his actions that piss me off, but that the writers let him get by relatively unscathed. Yeah, you have a few characters call him on his bullshit every now and then, but compared to every one else, he hasn't had to sacrifice much for their various quests, he rarely sees personal consequences for his fuck-ups on the same scale the rest do, and his usually cost someone else, too. Take what's going on now: {Spoiler}We'd just been hit over the head with the idea that killing a god would have consequences, so I thought when Quentin killed Ember (Umber? I can never keep them straight and at this point I refuse to learn) that he'd finally be the one to pay the big price, but it turned out everyone lost magic. And aside from just missing magic in itself, most of the crew suffers indirectly from it somehow (Alice is hunted, Penny can't get help, Eliot and Margo have to deal with everything going to even more shit in Fillory, Fogg is blind), but Quentin is just... bored, basically. He actually even benefits from it where his father is concerned, although he seems not to give much of a shit about what bringing magic back would mean as far as that goes. Fogg loses his vision but Quentin's magic wood arm doesn't revert back because, conveniently, I guess the Fillorian wood is inherently magical. But he just always seems to be lucky like that.
Everyone else takes the key quest seriously, because the stakes are ridiculously high for them, but he's just like, "WOOOOH! I GET TO GO ON A BOAT!" Having to face the Depression Monster might have been good for him but he only had to deal with that for five seconds before Poppy takes off with the key. He sends poor Benedict after her but fails to warn him not to make direct contact with it knowing he's already suicidal and gets the guy killed, which he barely seems to feel bad about before hyperfocusing on the key again, and he even gets laid as a bonus for his "troubles." (Poppy can GTFO, by the way. I'm already sick of her shit.) I hope we can at least all agree that the show has now far exceeded the maximum amount of Josh they should have ever subjected us to. If they were going to elevate a minor Brakebills student, it should have been Todd or something.

I never said I hated Julia. Stop with these #AlternativeFacts I said she was acting like a crazed b***h in season 1.

3.12: High King Margo! Goddess Julia!
I'm really happy the god bullet came back into play because I thought they'd just dropped that entirely and it had been irking me this whole time.
Alice is wrong but Quentin's, "You're taking choice away!" argument is some dumbassery. He's like a gun nut, but with magic.

You said pretty much all my problems with Quentin. Couldn't have put it better myself. I think we now have to suffer through so much Josh because the show elevated Elliot and Margo from comedic relief secondary characters to Serious Business characters with equal weight in the plot. The position needed to be filled, and since everyone else in the cast is too cool for school (or mopey Quentin) there was no where left to go except upbeat earnest dork. At least that's what I thought had happened until that episode scolding all the characters for "ignoring poor Josh". That was a surprise to me. I thought he was only there for comedic relief, but I guess they (the characters) and we (the audience) were always meant to take Josh's presence seriously? Ok. In 3.12 Lol at the idea Q cares about his dad in the face of getting magic back. I'd forgotten that entire storyline about his magic cancer. I haven't seen him so much as remember he has a family in a season. The pro-bestiality angle was a surprise. But I hope Rafe and Abigail the Sloth have a long and happy marriage. Now I wonder if all those things he calls her--"Her Flealessness, Her Slowness"--aren't royal titles, but cutesy pet names?

I just finished the finale and holy shit, that was... So Much. So. Much.
The last time a show gave a season finale that was That Much was, like, Lost.

Same, though I'm more forgiving of Alice than you. I need more time to collect my thoughts before getting into that, though.

I'm going to take another shot at watching this. I couldn't get through the first few episodes the last time around.

I'm going to take another shot at watching this. I couldn't get through the first few episodes the last time around. The beginning of the first season is definitely the least interesting part.

The first bit is a hard sell for sure. I didn't dilike it when I first watched, but I could definitely see the hurdles.
