My new working theory is I'm not real That Syd episode was interesting. I don't mind entire episodes that stop the plot and focus on one character if they give vital character development. But I'm of two minds about this one, because while it was good character development for Syd...it also came out of nowhere, and I have little faith it will be touched on again. I mean, what have we gotten before that episode? "He's my man," then the very beginnings of her having some doubts about perpetually waiting for David to return from war, then mysterious Sid from the future. All 3 of those things have little to do with the person we saw in that bottle episode. And aside from David asserting that he loves her, I don't really see how she, or any of the revelations they had in her head, will come into play in what is come during the rest of the season. I guess that could be an outgrowth of the fact that I don't really understand their relationship. Which is why I wasn't sure if she was real for so long. Seemed like David just glommed onto her one day, and she returned his feelings...for pretty much no reason. And an entire episode dedicated to the inner workings of her psyche still did not make clear to me why she likes him?? I still don't get the relationship. And I'd argue the show itself has spent more time building up the relationship between David and Faruk, David and Lenny, and David and his sister than David and Syd. I'd also argue those relationships are more dynamic, more compelling, and way bigger drivers of the plot (all signals that the viewer should care more about them!). And that's to say nothing of the other compelling relationships in the show, like Cary and Kerry, Melanie and Jemaine Clement, etc. To that point, that's why (imo) the most recent episode doesn't feel as much like stopping the entire plot to flesh out one character/relationship--even though that's exactly what it was. There were basically 3 characters in each one David, Faruk, and his sister. Showing different versions of David and focusing on different versions of his relationship with Faruk and his sister gave new insight into those characters in a way that adds to our understanding of the story, instead of just being an interesting detour.

This last episode was a fucking waste of time. I had high hopes for this season but the deeper we get into it the more it feels as if it’s just meandering

I thought Legion would be above hot takes about the evils of technology and social media. Especially considering their other little vignettes this season have perfectly shown that certain social phenomena have featured throughout history.

I'm two episodes behind. Maybe three? Last one I saw introduced alternate timelines - wherein David never gets caught-up in Division 3 and {Spoilers} Amy isn't killed

I feel like these last four episodes could have been two, and this season is really underperforming for me

I watched episode 1 and I don't know why David immediately trusts this silent Syd from the future telling him to help their greatest enemy? Like, without any question? It's inexplicable tbh. Still hate whenever she says any permutation of "he's my man" because 1 it's ridiculous, and 2 it gives me flashbacks to a particularly obnoxious Big Brother contestant. I'm back to suspecting that Syd is not real Actually I love when she calls him that for sum reason. And while I found them annoying in s1 I'm ready to embrace the ship now.

Love it or hate it, but Legion has been renewed for season 3.

I’m happy it got renewed, but I think the next season would benefit from ambling around less

I agree. I have't disliked this season, but it doesn't have the same punch as S1. It def meanders like you said Leonard.

I think its because it sounds ridiculous and so its easier for me to pretend she's Rogue.
