So you're saying we won't get to see Marcus on the big screen either?

I am laughing so hard at the X-Men/Rogue fans who genuinely believe Marvel will mindrape and depower their new $1 billion cashcow in Captain Marvel 2 because of the SOURCE MATERIAL. Hooray for frosted butts! When the film came out, I made a tweet thread about how Captain Marvel was historically treated poorly, as a point of comparison with Polaris. Both of them have a roughly similar history of such: intro'd as feminist for their time, suddenly rewritten as the exact opposite of feminist, bodies violated (the whole rape thing for Carol, Malice for Lorna), depowered to promote other characters (Rogue for Carol, Storm and Malice and Zaladane for Lorna). Yet today Marvel's completely rebuilt Carol and put her out there in a big way, while they insist on continuing to treat Lorna poorly. To me it gives away that the company isn't at all genuine about being progressive. It's just for sales and PR.

Has anyone tried informing Tumblr and Twitter that TV networks and streaming services are businesses that like to make money and expecting them to renew shows that don't do that just to spare the feelings of a couple hundred people, half of whom probably watched illegally, is delusional?

I saw tweets about that too!
(It’s about One Day at A Time, right?)

Didn't they cancel it because they didn't want to renew a licensing fee or something?
It was something relatively small that they could have done but chose not to for money. Which is always the case with networks and streaming sites, as you said.

Someone watch elite on Netflix with me. I just started it. It's like Veronica Mars and The Reunion (Fox) had a baby and hired Gossip Girl to be the nanny but then fired that nanny and hired Pretty Little Liars as the new nanny but they're not sure it's working out so they're low key looking to rehire Gossip Girl but they're not sure yet and weighing their options.

Mac and I both watched but IDR if we made a thread for it. You left out OTH. <3 Reunion <3 Re: ODAAT, IDK about the licensing thing but I could see that factoring in. I know I saw one of the writers/producers/whoever telling people to please stream all of S3 ASAP, so viewership had to be not great. I know people are getting on the promotional aspect but I honestly have only ever seen Stranger Things, Orange Is The New Black and 13 Reasons Why being advertised outside of Netflix and only after they got popular/awards buzz through word of mouth (and 13RW was just the one time). Within the Netflix app, I've seen all their original stuff being advertised a ton, ODAAT included.

Skins is the wild child distant cousin that likes to turn up and pierce baby's ears and slap a fake tattoo on them before rolling out of town. ------------------- I have difficulty believing the ratings excuse from streaming sites like Netflix, hulu, and Prime. They are notorious for inflating their numbers while not actually revealing any hard stastistical facts to back it up. Obviously, it's about money so them trying to act like it's not is so asinine. They really don't have to say anything or give reasoning behind their cancellations but they do anyway but they use excuses that only work for television networks that have more transparency with their business decisions. So idk if Netflix is going to cancel something just cancel it and shut up. The ratings excuse doesn't work and the high production cost is only applicable to few shows.

One thing streaming services like Netflix need to understand is that in the grand scheme of what to watch, people are going to focus on content that could get taken off before they check out streaming service branded content that they know is always going to be there.
This is even truer thanks to those services never doing anything to notify subscribers that something is about to go away. I've had multiple shows/films I just barely managed to watch before they left Netflix. They weren't even on any of the informal lists sites compile of what's coming and going. I finished Blackstone (a 5 season show) mere hours before it got taken off.

That's entirely a personal preference that not everyone prescribes to.
I do agree they need to do better in notifying people of what's leaving and when. The only time I know what's gone is if I look for outside articles on the subject

I'm not surprised. They should have used this opportunity to find someone with talent but I figured they would just wait until the heat died down before they rehired him.
