If memory serves, all he does is 1. pet a dog 2. drown and get rescued 3. try to guess Ariel's name 4. drive a boat into Giant Ursula. He barely has any lines or personality.

They are going to give him a new backstory, how he really loves to sing, but his father doesn't approve of it, bc he needs his son to be a prince, not some sissy court fool. Love for singing is what really unites Ariel and Eric in the remake.

I actually like that idea way more than the original version where they like each other for literally no reason and the prince is a just cheerful empty shell for aerial to project onto

Cloverfield is not good. Did it just smash for reviving the found footage genre or something...? That and the marketing, which was different at the time. I can barely remember anything that happened in it. |
