My view of Captain Marvel is pretty much that it's good the film is happening, good merch exists, good that people support it, but Marvel is entirely insincere and only making the film cause it's good for PR and sales. If Marvel thought it'd be more beneficial for their public image and bottom line, they would immediately flip to cater to those same radicalized young men that are against the film for starring a female superheroine. And people supporting the film need to be prepared for a possible future where Marvel flips like that.

This feels true. In 2015 my then co-workers recommended a popular 'soul food' restaurant to me that turned out to be nothing but a trendy hipster NuSouth beacon of gentrification. Worst chicken and waffles I've ever had in my life.
