Same. I'm trying to not be nitpicky because it's not like vampires and zombies and werewolves make any sense either, but I have so many questions. And some of the plot holes would be so easy to fix? It's almost like he never had a second pair of eyes on the screenplay after he wrote it? And then since he wrote, directed, and produced it, there was no one else to say, "This is good, but what about...?" Like, {Spoiler} WHO TAKES CARE OF THE RABBITS? Who feeds and waters them? Why didn't other Lupita tell everyone she switched them? If they're supposed to be 'tethered' then why do they spend almost the entire movie walking around, not mirroring their body doubles? Why didn't that little girl just escape back up the escalator from the begining? How did she learn they were all put down there by the government? I have so many questions! Jordan Peele turned into prequel George Lucas!? Just saw Get Out for the first time tonight. Loved it. Worried Us is a little too horrory for me. I can take creepy, but miss me with endless jump scares and excessive gore Us has almost no jump scares actually. Most of the scares are from suspense. Gore factor is way lower than Game of Thrones or Walking Dead. Or literally any slasher movie. I saw Us tonight as well. It was good. I liked Get Out more. Still feel this was better than most horror movies I've seen lately. I felt the film was too actiony and didn't really explore its basic concept fully enough. I don't ding it for a predictable ending because I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that. I liked the clues used to lead people to catch on to that twist. {Spoiler} One question that readily comes to mind is: why did the film happen at all? Why did the family return to that specific beach? Red expressly says planning it out took a looooong time, so for it to happen when the family shows up and not before or after is in no way coincidence. It was timed. Beyond that, the real horror story isn't in the family getting attacked by doppelgangers, it's in the doppelgangers having to experience everything their top side selves do without any choice whatsoever. Another element hidden in the subtext: Adelaide as a girl getting out, stealing Red's topside identity, going on to live life and then dancing - and Red imitating the dance following Adelaide's lead - proved that the doppelgangers could switch places to become the ones in control if they got out at a young age. So yeah. Pretty freaky. {Spoiler} I still don't get how the tethering works. The fact that all of them can just hop on the escalator and come up here to kill us, walk around, and organize a public demonstration of souless clone unity shows that they aren't 100% tethered. And I really don't get that? Like even from the beginning, for Red/Adelaide to go up there and switch her out at all shows they can do their own thing. Same. I'm trying to not be nitpicky because it's not like vampires and zombies and werewolves make any sense either, but I have so many questions. And some of the plot holes would be so easy to fix? It's almost like he never had a second pair of eyes on the screenplay after he wrote it? Why didn't that little girl just escape back up the escalator from the begining? How did she learn they were all put down there by the government? I have so many questions! I didn’t even think about the rabbits. My questions were: How did she learn the history of the Tethered if none of them spoke English? After the other girl brought her down there, what was keeping her from leaving? For that matter, what was keeping any of them from leaving? When exactly was the project abandoned, and how did the government manage to clone EVERYONE in America? How did she organize the rebellion of millions of them? Do the Tethered control the people or the other way around? The dad’s mimics him slightly, and the little boy can control his but only sometimes(?). Where did they get the red suits? Where did they get ANY of their clothes? They all have custom printed tee shirts and the like? I agree I agree I agree {Spoiler} Now I don't think they cloned everyone in America. What I took from Red's story is that after the government abandoned the project, the tethered would end up with whoever their topside counterpart was with, leading to generations of new tethered being born with the same parentage as the people above (Remember, one of Red's gripes was that she had to be with Abraham because he was Adelaid's man's tethered). Now obviously this makes zero sense, because as Red's story shows sooo many of them should have died in childbirth, as babies, as salmonella-riddled adults from eating raw rabbit, etc. And what if one of your parents immigrated from somewhere else?
I don't understand any of the tethering stuff honestly. The more you think about it, the more the concept falls apart. But I do agree that the real horror comes from imagining a bunch of human beings trapped underground living in squalor and suffering.
...But also it seems like they could have all left at any time! Literally none of those doors were even locked! How is the escalator still running???

In all seriousness, Slayers is my favorite 90's anime and remains one of my favorite shows period. I can't say enough good about it. (Also I'm pretty sure most of it is on youtube? It used to be on Netflix. Also, would you mind writing mine too, I'm way behind. In that case SDA is obligated to watch with me. It's not on Netflix. I got a torrent that had all the series (including the ones from a couple years), plus the movies and OVAs. And no way am I gonna write anyone else's thesis, my own is giving me enough of a headache (it's about your beloved North Carolina!) Beloved is a strong word. But it's not my most unfavorite state! How about we switch theses? I don't have data yet, so all you'll really need to do is the intro and literature review. In that case SDA is obligated to watch with me. Lycaon you're also part of this. Too busy!

Was Casa de Papel never a big thing in the US? I never see it talked abt. Anyway cant wait for s3.
Unrelated but is it problematic to sexualize a country?

I Googled that because I thought I never heard of it but turns out they call it "Money Heist" on Netflix US and I've seen that advertised constantly on the app screensaver but never thought to watch it because "Money Heist" is such a bad name. That they had a perfectly good title they could have just translated into English but came up with "Money Heist" instead makes it that much worse.

I sexualized the Statue of Liberty so I don't see why sexualizing a country would be any different.

I think you would like it it has a good 'good job show' to 'adhfjskdhdjskskw' ration also nando from elite plays a dumbass robber with a heart of gold. I sexualized the Statue of Liberty so I don't see why sexualizing a country would be any different. im askink bc I saw a youtube ad thats basically Scotland whoring itself out to the EU in anticipation of Brexit. Basically this

I think we're just entering the era of people wanting to fuck countries. Tourism boards will advertise the glory holes they have in hillsides.
Seriously though, a common conservative line of thought seems to be a) womanizing countries and things associated with those countries, paired with b) implying something "sexually untoward" happening through a certain action. Whether it's the newly womanized country/object having lots of sex, getting raped, etc, since sex and babies are all they seem to see women as being.

I don't watch GOT anymore and I actually like Arya but I kind of hope the real prank was Maisie dropping an actual spoiler on The Tonight Show but pretending it was a joke.
