I've been rewatching Roar, which is a late 90s TV show I found out about 10 years after it was airing that lasted for only 13 episodes and was good. Today it's pretty amazing in retrospect to see Heath Ledger and Vera Farmiga starring on the same show at that time. I even bet some exec somewhere would be interested in reviving Roar if Ledger was still alive. I loved Roar!

They snuck Majot X in that SM/DP book that Liefield has dick to do with, making it technically the character's first appearance which is why idiots on ebay are selling their issues for 30+ bucks. Meanwhile Bobert has been throwing a fit for the last 48 hours abt how he REFUSES to sign any copy of that issue which he dont RECOGNIZE as his character's first appearance since he was featured on sum Deadpool variant covers publised the week before that issue of SPDP, variant that Liefield drew apparently because he had foreseen Marvel trying to screw him.
I mean, any idiot buying and selling Robin Liefield comics in 2019 thinking they'll become collector items in the future can, should and must, DIE but the notion that even if it does happen, he won't benefit from it and may even have been screwed out of royalties possibly. Lets just say it's small reparation for his part in the 90s.

Today it's pretty amazing in retrospect to see Heath Ledger and Vera Farmiga starring on the same show at that time. I even bet some exec somewhere would be interested in reviving Roar if Ledger was still alive. I loved Roar! Roar's always been amazing. When I found out about it, I was surprised I missed it. It was roughly around the same time as Hercules and Xena which I loved (moreso Herc; which makes Sorbo sucking these days so sad). I finished The Eternal episode last night. There's so much about the episodes from Spear of Destiny on after that feels clearly rushed and squeezed in, like the writers intended to have 22 episodes to do it all and got screwed over. Spear of Destiny itself was an interesting directing approach. Several scenes came off like they belonged in an artsy music video instead of a TV show. I've written porn fics that got me an entry on tvtropes and multiple pieces of fanart and fan sequels, and I don't throw that around as proof that I'm too awesome to be denied. But then again it's Liefeld. The only time u can expect Marvel to be creative is when they have to devise ways to fuck over their..... I dont wanna say talent. I was about to say "don't forget pissing off fans/readers too," but honestly none of what they do in that vein is creative. It's just stupid and self-absorbed.

I've always been troubled by how utterly unprofessional comic book people are. Usually that level of dickishness comes with power and notoriety. I'd expect it from directors, producers, celebs, even big deal academics act this way. But at the end of the day, comic book writers/editors/artists produce a niche product that doesn't pull in the cash that film does, doesn't have the literary or artistic bona fides novels or other visual arts have, and is not as widely consumed as your typical pop song/soundcloud rapper turned hit.
tl;dr I don't think they're big enough deals to think so much of themselves and behave so childishly in public.

You know what they remind me of? I don't watch this show anymore, but in its first season Undercover Boss had one of the founders of Hooters go undercover at one of his restaurants. The manager of said restaurant had made himself a petty tyrant, and would make the waitresses fawn over him to get better shifts, and organized these contests where he'd make them drink hot sauce or humiliate themselves. I remember thinking, "this man isn't even a regional or general manager. He just oversees one store! Just a tiny bit of power and he's already abusing it that much?"

It's actually the niche nature of comics that leads to editors and writers being colossal assholes. They think the audience and impact are small enough for them to get away with just about anything. They're wrong of course. They have more influence than they think, and the consequences of their actions on themselves are bigger than they're aware. But it's what they believe.
