R u excited for Lorna in the flagship title? Honestly, not really - and I wasn’t gonna say anything here cause I know nobody here wants to hear it. All other things I’ve said in the past aside, that Lorna’s history with Genosha especially apparently meant nothing doesn’t bode well for how Hickman sees her or what he might do with her. Maybe he’ll surprise, but I’ve been burned by Marvel enough to expect the worst. I’m expecting Lorna’s better off with minimal use until post-Hickman. |

Hickman doesnt do character studies hes all about plotand Genosha isnt at the center of things rn. I find the fact shes starring in Adjectiveless #1 encouraging.

The thing, though, is that I don’t think acknowledging such things requires some kind of in-depth character study where pages on pages are devoted to her. At minimum, she could be doing something related in the background for one panel. Bringing up Genosha and Krakoa but only using her as something for Magneto to exposition to while ignoring that she has a stake in those things too comes off to me as saying he has a low opinion of her. And low opinions of her translate into bad treatment. We’ll see what happens in the issue proper. Maybe he’ll surprise and defy expectations. I just really doubt it after the mix of Marvel’s historical treatment of her and Hickman seeming to behave in keeping with that treatment. |
